Notable Events: 1998 - Anaheim stadium is remodelled to get rid of the cavernous center
field now that the football Rams are gone to St. Louis. The ballpark is
1990 - After a 91 win season in '89, the Angels sign ace lefty Mark Langston, 29,   improved immensely turning into a baseball friendly venue and is renamed
as a free agent to try to get to the next level. Unfortunately, the 1989 success   Edison field. Coincidentally, the team plays better in the baseball
was a mirage and the club drops eleven games in the standings to under .500  friendly atmosphere.
The Nineties will be another failed decade for the Angels. They finish exactly .500
in '91 and don't reach that lofty height until towards the end of the decade in '97. 1998 - Gene Autry dies after the season and his family sells the club to
The good thing about the decade is that Anaheim will start accumulating talent  Disney in '99. He rides off into the sunset never having won
to fuel the club early in the next century.  anything with the Angels.

1993 - The excellent  outfield of the future starts taking shape for the Angels. 1999 - Mo Vaughn is signed as a Free Agent and immediately gets hurt
Tim Salmon, 24, is Rookie of the Year. Jim Edmonds, 23, is also a rookie in '93. He will be a major bust with the Angels.
Garret Anderson, 21, comes up the following season. None were top picks in the
free agent draft, Edmonds was a 7th round pick in '88, Salmon a 3rd round pick in 1999 - Anaheim finishes off a poor decade with a last place 70-92 finish.
89 and Anderson a 4th round pick in '90 They only had two above .500 seasons in the Nineties.
However, all this losing has provided a lot of high draft picks fueling
1995 - Righty relief ace Troy Percival, 25, is a rookie. He was a 6th round pick in a nice young nucleus moving forward into the next century.
