not having made the playoffs since they won the Division in '14 with 98 wins. Mickey Moniak (1.8) -  8
The Angels will continue to flounder below .500 in the early 2020's Hunter Renfroe (0) -  4

2020 - The Angels have two future Hall of Fame superstars in CF Mike Trout and Notable Events:
P / OF Shohei Ohtani. Either of these two is worth the price of admission to any
ballgame. However, there's not much else. Washington Nationals superstar 3B Anthony 2024 - Ohtani wants to play for a winner and moves cross town to

Prime example being Albert Pujols still on the books and on the Angels roster. take on his onerous contract, so he stays.
Artie has paid superstar centerfielder Mike Trout a fortune and he paid a good price
for Japanese two way star Shohei Otani.  Moreno also shelled out 228 million for The Angels will be bad once again. Owner Moreno needs to get a

But a steep dropoff after that. It's become painfully apparent, however, that while It's going to take a few years to get this team into contention
Moreno hasn't hesitated to splash money around on the big boys, he's been equally Keepers moving forward:

    □ P - Sam Bachman, 24,  '21 9th overall pick, 1-2 3.18
  □ GM Billy Eppler was fired in November. He failed and needed to go.   □ P - Reid Detmers, 24,  '20 10th overall pick, 4-10 4.48

  on the parent roster. □ SS - Kyren Paris, 22,  '19 2nd round pick, 0 1 .100
    □ P - Caden Dana, 20,  '22 11th round pick, top prospect
Joe Maddon was brought in as field manager in '20.
He's usually a manager that can make a difference, however,  after two unsuccessful
seasons, the Angels move on from him and bring in Phil Nevin in '22.

2020 - The farm system is not completely bare. Some prospects moving forward:
LHP Patrick Sandoval, 23, '18 trade from Houston
LHP Reid Detmers, 20,  '20 1st round pick
RHP Griffin Canning, 24, '17 2nd round pick
RHP Jaime Barria, 23, '13 IFA
    1B  Jared Walsh, 26, '15 39th round pick
OF Taylor Ward, 26, '15 1st round pick
OF Jo Adell, 20, '17 1st round pick
OF Brandon Marsh, 21, '16 2nd round pick
OF Jordyn Adams, 20, '18 1st round pick

2021 - Anaheim brings in a pair of Iglesias' in trades.
SS Jose from Baltimore and closer Raisel from the Reds.
Raisel has a big year in '21, but is gone by the end of '22.
  Jose was not an answer.

2021 - Ohtani wins the MVP and is a force of nature both at the plate
and on the mound. There's been no one like him since Babe Ruth.

2022 - Rendon is turning into a bust. He was a legit star in Washington.
Aside from Trout and Ohtani, nothing is going well.

2022 - Minasian makes an odd little trade, dealing well regarded OF
prospect Brandon Marsh to the Phillies for well regarded catching
prospect Logan O'Hoppe. It's not a bad trade, but the Angels
have holes everywhere and this, on the surface, is exacerbating
one roster hole while fortifying a potentially filled hole. Anaheim
has another well regarded catching prospect already in Edgar Quero.
Meanwhile, the Angels other young OF prospects, Jo Adell and
  Jordyn Adams are struggling.

2023 - Anaheim brings in a group of newcomers, they don't help:
  □ RHP Carlos Estevez, FA from Colorado - 31 saves 3.90 ERA
LHP Tyler Anderson, FA from the Dodgers - goes 6-6
  □ 1B Gio Urshela, trade from Minnesota - injured in June
2B Brandon Drury, FA from San Diego - .803 OPS
  □ OF Hunter Renfroe, trade from Milwaukee - ,737 OPS

2023 - One time superstar 3B Anthony Rendon misses most of the
season with a fractured tibia. After Urshela also gets hurt, Anaheim
  trades for Eduardo Escobar

2023 - After Taylor Ward gets beaned, the Angels go out and
acquire veterans CJ Cron and Randall Grichuck.

2023 - injuries hurt the team as CF Mike Trout misses significant time
as does catcher Logan O'Hoppe on top of the Rendon and Ward injuries.

2023 - The Angels pitching sucks outside of Ohtani and their hitting
with all of the injuries is slightly below league average. This adds up to 73-89.

2023 - Shohei Ohtani is the best player in baseball and wins the MVP.
Anaheim would have finished in the Pacific Coast League without him.
Ohtani is a free agent at the end of the season and signs with the
crosstown Dodgers for 700 million. This one really hurts.
