2000 - Another subpar (for the Dodgers) decade. The Fox ownership
of the team brought absolutely nothing to the table and, mercifully, Outfield:
Fox sold the club to Frank McCourt in 2004. With the McCourt  Matt Kemp (10.21) -   27
ownership at the helm, LA started turning things around and, by the Andre Ethier (8.69) -   27
end of the decade, the team started looking like The Dodgers again. Gary Sheffield (10.47) -   23
There were three Division titles (the last two closed out the decade) Dave Roberts (4.65) -   22
and three ninety plus win seasons - not acceptable for a club with Juan Pierre (2.03) -   18
LA's vast resources at hand or for a team with their history, but a start. Milton Bradley (4.45) -   14
The Dodgers spend the decade as an above average team, mostly  JD Drew (7.17) -  14
hovering in the mid eighties or low nineties in wins. Manny Ramirez (5.63) -   13
   However, they're never really a threat. Marquis Grissom (1.1) -   10
    Brian Jordan (4.22) -   10
2000 - Outfielder Shawn Green, 27, is obtained in a deal with Toronto Kenny Lofton (0.79) -   8
for outfielder Raul Mondesi Jayson Werth (4.3) -   6

2002 - Eric Gagne begins a three year run as the top reliever in Notable Events:
the game, averaging 51 saves over that period before blowing out
his arm in 2005. When you are the top reliever in the game with 2006 - The influx of young talent makes the Dodgers decent again as they
Mariano Rivera around, that's saying something.  gain seventeen games in the standings going 88-74 and are an exciting watch

2004 - After a seven your drought (LA made the playoffs in '96 as  2008 - Joe Torre is hired on as manager. You can't overestimate
a wild card), the Dodgers make it to the post season by winning  what Torre's presence brought to the club. Suddenly, it was the legacy
93 games and the Division. Durocher - Alston - LaSorda  Dodgers that we were looking at again
and for the first time since the Eighties, the Dodgers mattered again.
2005 - Righthander Derek Lowe, 32, is picked up as a FA from Boston
2008/9 - Outfielder Manny Ramirez is obtained in mid season in a blockbuster
2005 - The Dodgers hit rock bottom at 71-91. However, several good three team deal with Boston and Pittsburgh that included star Pirate
things emerge out of the ashes as LA shakes things up by adding a outfielder Jason Bay going to Boston. All Ramirez does is go 17-53-.396
bunch of young talent to the roster in 2006: in 53 games to propel the Dodgers to the Divison title (at age 36). In '08.
Catcher Russell Martin, 23 - 2002 17th round pick -  another He continues to excel in '09 going 19-63-.290 in 104 games. Manny is
outstanding Dodgers catcher who was a low round selection;  suspended for fifty games during the '09 season for a drug violation. It also
  □ Lefty Clayton Kershaw is selected with the 7th overall pick in the   must be noted that having Ramirez and Torre in the same dugout was a trip
'05 draft - he would come up in 2008 as a twenty year old rookie; for those who remembered the Red Sox - Yankee rivalry. And with those
  □ Shortstop Rafael Furcal, 26, is signed as a FA from the Braves; two around, it spelled instant credibility for LA. It wasn't since the
   □ Outfielder Matt Kemp, 21, is a rookie -   Valenzuela-Hershiser days that the Dodgers were the team you went
he was a 6th round pick in 2003;  out of your way to watch.
  □ Outfielder Andre Ethier, 24, is obtained in a trade with the A's -
outfielder Milton Bradley was sent to Oakland in the deal
