1960 - After the Giants moved to San Francisco, they became a very entertaining  Harvey Kuenn (3.32) -   15
club thru their first dozen seasons. They were also reasonably successful Jesus Alou (0.02) -   15
averaging eighty nine wins, but only win one pennant. GM Chub Feeney was  Willie Kirkland (3.15) -  8
expert at signing young hard hitting outfielders. Not so good anywhere else.  Matty Alou (0.82) -   7
Adding outfielders to a squad that already had a young Willie Mays was
probably not what you wanted to prioritize. Anyway, they signed Willie Notable Events:
Kirkland, Willie McCovey, Leon Wagner, Orlando Cepeda, Bill White,
Felipe Alou, Jesus Alou, Matty Alou, Jim Ray Hart, Manny Mota, 1963 - Hall of Fame righthander Gaylord Perry, 23, is a rookie. He was
Ken Henderson, Jose Cardenal, Bobby Bonds, George Foster, signed in 1958
Gary Matthews and Gary Maddox.   San Francisco spent much of the
decade trading these guys to try to fill in gaps in other positions, particularly 1963 - Outfielder Jesus Alou, 21, is a rookie He was signed in 1958
pitching. They never could quite get over the hump
. The keepers on the 1960 Giants roster coming into the decade: 1963 - Third Baseman Jim Ray Hart, 21, is a rookie. He was signed in 1960
First  Base Willie McCovey, 22. ROY in 1959

Outfield Felipe Alou, 25, signed as a free agent in 1955

ace of the staff in the Sixties. Juan was signed in 1957
1967 - Nineteen year old lefty Ron Bryant is a rookie. He was picked in the
1960 - Lefthander Billy O'Dell, 27, and righthander Billy Loes, 30, are obtained  22nd round of the 1965 amateur draft
from the Orioles for Jackie Brandt. This was a classic win-win deal as the
Orioles were swimming in good pitchers and the Giants were swimming 1967 - Mike McCormick wins Cy Young. He is also Comeback Player
in good outfielders. O'Dell would have a couple of nice seasons for SF of the year.

1960 - The Giants move out of Seals Stadium and into Candlestick Park 1967 - Orlando Cepeda, who was traded away by the Giants the
Candlestick Park was a typical Stoneham not think it thru blunder. It was a cold, previous season, wins the NL MVP Award as he leads St. Louis to a
dank venue with high winds - you have to wonder if Stoneham didn't have a deed World Series title. Giant fans are understandably unhappy particularly
for the Golden Gate Bridge that someone sold him buried amongst his posessions because the guy he was traded for, Ray Sadecki, stunk up the place

that season - this one took place in Candlestick Park
1968 - Outfielder Bobby Bonds, 22, is a rookie. He was signed in 1964.
1962 - Outfielder Manny Mota, 24, is a rookie. He was signed in 1957 People thought Bonds would be the next Willie Mays. They were wrong.
Altho' that was an unfair comparison to put on any player and Bobby turned
1962 - Ace Lefty Billy Pierce, 35, is obtained in a deal with the White Sox out to be a pretty good player, but always disappointed because he was
He was a big contributor to the pennant drive going 16-6 not Mays.

1962 -The Giants beat the Dodgers in best of three playoff to win the pennant 1969 - Outfielder George Foster, 20, is a rookie. He was drafted in the
