2020 -  Philadelphia extends it's streak of not finishing over .500 to nine years
by going 28-32 in '20. It's been a decade since the Phillies were one of the  Notable Events:
top teams in baseball when they won 102 games in '11 and won the Division.
The Phils have been on the cusp of breaking thru for the past three years 2024 - The Phillies best asset is the Braves post season curse. Philly finished
but haven't been able to. They have a core of promising young players and second the last two years, but beat up on the Braves in the playoffs.
have been spending on free agents the past couple of years trying to get to The hitting and pitchiing are above league average, but not tremendously so.
the next level. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, it hasn't happened. The main
reason is that the youngsters just haven't progressed as hoped. The pitching, Offense (Circular Lineup):
particularly, has just not developed. On offense, Philadelphia has a lot of power with ten guys in double figures in
home runs and six of those over twenty including Kyle Schwarber's 47.
David S. Middleton is the head of the Consortium that bought the Phillies However, these guys strike out a lot and the team batting average is a not
in 1997. He took over from David Montgomery in 2014. The Phillies had a  great .256. Also, five of their best hitters are now a bit over thirty. In a couple
nice run in the Oughts under this group of owners and have been trying hard of years, they are going to start seeing the effects of age, but, for now, they
to rebuild the Phillies once that successful team of the Oughts aged out in '12. should be at the top of their game.
They have shown a willingness to spend and a commitment to winning.    C JT Realmuto, 33, '19 Trade from Miami, 20 63 .252 16 SB

of help on the mound. Unfortunately, the farm system is pretty barren and the
price for the few difference makers on the mound in free agency will be sky high.

2022 - The Phillies finish third in the Division at 87-75 and squeak into the
Wild Card. They then go on a wild ride beating the Cards, Braves and Padres
to make it all the way to the World Series before reality finally sets in and they
lose to the powerful Astros. Their post season run shows out the Phillies
quality talent and that they can compete with anyone.

2023 - The Phillies do it again in '23, rinse and repeat. After a good, but not
great, regular season, the Phils make the Wild Card by finishing second in
the Division with a 90-72 mark. Philadelphia then beats Miami in the Wild Card
round and the Braves in the NLDS to make it to the NLCS for the second year
in a row despite not having won the Division either season. Upstart Arizona
needs seven games to put Philadelphia away in the NLCS to make it to the
World Series. The Phils made it thisclose to two World Series appearances
in a row. Philadelphia shows, once again, that they have the talent to compete
with anyone and are a team you don't want to meet in the post season.
