  Notable Events:
The Reds have been hovering around .500 the entire decade (except for a  Outfield:
disastrous 2022 when they lost 102 games). Cincinnati made the playoffs in '25 TJ Friedl (6.71) -  26
with a near record low 83 wins. Their pitching gave up 40 runs less than the  Jake Fraley (2.24) -  16
league average while they scored 4 runs less than the league average. Jesse Winker (4.13) -   12
And, if they want to improve, it is the pitching that is going to carry them forward. Tyler Naquin (1.03) -  12
The Reds figure to improve on their 83 wins this year but can they improve enough Nicholas Castellanos (3.44) -    11
to challenge very good Brewers and Cubs teams in the Division? Will Benson (0.8) - 7
  Austin Hays (0.8) - 7
  Starting Pitchers:
    RHP Hunter Greene, 26, '17 draft 2nd overall pick , '25 7-4 2.76 Notable Events:
    LHP Andrew Abbott, 27, '21 draft 2nd round pick, '25 10-7 2.87
    LHP Nick Lodolo, 28, '19 draft 1st round pick, '25 9-8 3.33 2020 - Cincinnati broke a six year losing streak (70-92 average record) with a
RHP Brady Singer, 29, '25 Trade with KC, '25 14-12 4.03 31-29 mark that got them into the post season (where they lost in the Wild Card
RHP Rhett Lowder, 24, '23 draft 7th overall pick, '25 2-2 1.17 round to the Braves).
    RHP Chase Burns, 23, '24 draft second overall pick, '25 0-3 4.57
Cincinnati has been stockpiling high ceiling young pitchers who have been recent 2020 - Bob Castellini bought the club in '06. It hasn't been pretty. They have had
high draft picks. This staff is poised to take off. Injury prone Hunter Greene is the only four winning seasons in his fifteen years of ownership thru '20 with
ace. Andrew Abbott, Nick Lodolo, Rhett Lowder and Chase Burns all have the two Division titles.  Bob's biggest problem is shallow pockets.
pedigree and appear poised to take a step up. Brady Singer is a solid middle of
the rotation pitcher. 2020 - Nick Krall was hired in '18  as GM. He has since been kicked upstairs to
president where he remains. Considering they are small market, Krall has
Relief Pitchers: performed sort of OK. The team appears to be on the upswing and the players
Closer RHP Emilio Pagan, 35, '24 FA from Twins, '25 2-4 2.88 32saves Krall has brought into the organization are beginning to bear fruit.
RHP Tony Santillan, 29, '15 draft 2nd round pick, '25 1-5 2.44 But it has been a slow process.
RHP Graham Ashcraft, 30, '19 draft 6th round pick, '25
RHP Pierce Johnson, 35, '26 FA from Braves, '25 3-3 3.05 2020 - David Bell was hired in '19  as field manager and lasted thru 2024.
LHP Caleb Ferguson, 30, '26 FA from Seattle, '25 5-4 3.58 The Reds struck gold in 2025 when Terry Francona became available.
LHP Brock Burke, 29, '26 Trade from Anaheim, '25 7-1 3.36 No surprise that they made the playoffs the first year of Francona's tenure.
Connor Philllips, 25, '22 Trade from Seattle, '25 5-0 2.88 Terry is a field manager who makes a difference, there aren't many who do.
    LHP Sam Moll, 34, '23 Trade from A's, '25 1-0 6.38
    RHP Luis Mey, 25, '18 IFA, '25 2-0 3.43
    RHP Keegan Thompson, 31, '26 FA from Cubs, '25 2-1 2.67
The bullpen is deep. Emilio Pagan is a decent closer who got 32 saves last year.
Ahead of him are eight solid set up men who pitched effectively in the big leagues
last year. The relief corps is a strength.

  Regulars:

    2B Matt McLain, 26. '21 draft 17th overall pick. '25 15 50 .220 18sb

    OF Dane Myers, 30. '26 Trade from Miami. '25 6 31 .235
    OF Rece Hinds, 25, '19 draft 2nd round pick. '25 2 3 .116
    IF Tyler Callihan, 26, '19 draft 3rd round pick, '25 0 1 .167
Cincinnati has been concentrating on selecting pitchers at the top of the draft
and that strategy is paying off as they have a lot of good ones. But the cupboard
is pretty bare of hitting prospects. Elly de la Cruz and Noelvi Marte are a couple
of International Free Agents signed in 2019 who are the best young hitters in the
organization. De la Cruz is already a star. He has power and speed and can hit.
Eugenio Suarez, a former Reds star, returns from Seattle. He hit 49 homers last
year. Sal Stewart is one position player that was drafted in the first round and he
is poised to contribute this year. Matt McLain is the other high draft pick who has
a lot of talent but has been hampered by injuries. C Stephenson, 1B Steer
and OF Friedl are decent sticks. The offense figures to improve this year.
De La Cruz and Marte are young and should get better as should McLain.
