   1976 - City of Seattle drops its lawsuit vs.the American League when it is awarded Ruppert Jones (8.1) -   34  
   a new franchise for  the 1977 season. Leon Roberts (8.3) -   18  
   The suit was filed when the Seattle Pilots owners sold the club in 1970 to LeRoy Stanton (1.65) -   10  
   a Milwaukee based group after only one season in operation in Seattle. Tom Paciorek (2.38) -   6  
   The Milwaukee owners, led by future Major League Baseball Commissioner    
   Bud Selig, promptly moved the franchise to  Milwaukee, thus leaving Seattle Notable Events:  
   fans high and dry. The American League should have never approved the     
  original move as the courts had adjudicated. From a pure sportsman's point of 1978 - SS Craig Reynolds, 26, is obtained from Pittsburgh for Grant Jackson  
  view it was wrong to move a team out of perfectly viable major league city.     
  It is also disturbing that a future Commissioner of baseball could be a major 1978 - LHP Rick Honeycutt, 24, obtained from Pittsburgh in a trade  
  part of a transaction that treated fans of a city so callously.  for Dave Pagan
