2026 - The Yankees are entrenched in slightly upscale mediocrity. It's a shame
what has happened to this once great franchise. They have an owner, an Outfield:
inheritor who has no clue as to how his father went about making the  Aaron Judge (42.84) -   84
franchise a perennial contender, and a General Manager who is too  Giancarlo Stanton (6.11) -    28
incompetent to overcome the timid, scared approach of the owner.  Juan Soto (7.9) -  13
Essentially, a small market owner and a small market GM operating  Cody Bellinger (5) -  9
inappropriately and poorly in the largest sports market in the world  Trent Grisham (3.9) -  9
with the most iconic franchise (declining) on he planet. Aaron Hicks (1.51) -   9
All that being said, they have a chance at being decent in 2026. Brett Gardner (1.75) -   6
The Yankees will be in the mix for a playoff spot this year. They have a solid
offensive club and a boatload of question marks on the mound. Notable Events:
If their Big 3 are all healthy, they may even make some noise in the playoffs.
2020 - Things haven't changed in twenty years with the Yankees since George
Starting Pitchers: faded from the scene. They have a timid owner in Hal, an inheritor who is either
  □ LHP Max Fried, 32, '25 FA from Atlanta, '25 19-5 2.86 too reluctant or too clueless to take advantage of the resources he has at his
  □ RHP Gerrit Cole, 35, '20 FA from Houston, '24 8-5 3.41 finger tips as the owner of the most iconic sport franchise in the world in the
  □ RHP Carlos Rodon, 33, '23 FA from SF, '25 18-8 3.09 biggest sports market in the world. And they have a schlock of a General Manager
  □ RHP Luis Gil, 28, '18 Trade from Twins, '25 4-1 3.32 who is not savvy enough or slick enough to overcome or work around or coerce or
  □ LHP Ryan Weathers, 26, '26 Trade from Miami, '25 2-2 3.99 convince his owner to go for it. Both Hal and Cashman are small market which
  □ RHP Will Warren, 27, '21 draft 8th round pick, '25 9-8 4.44 means the Yankees are doomed into baseball purgatory - a perennial fringe
  □ RHP Cam Schlittler, 25, '22 draft 7th round pick, '25 4-3 2.96 playoff team.
  □ RHP Clarke Schmidt, 30, '17 draft 1st round pick, '25 4-4 3.32 injured
As with most pitching staffs these days, it depends on health. 2020 - Cashman got rid of Joe Girardi and replaced him with Aaron Boone in 2018.
If Cole returns healthy from TJ surgery and Rodon returns healthy from  Girardi's clubs, year in and year out, overcame poorly constructed rosters and
elbow surgery, this rotation is awesome. If they don't, it's not. were able to compete. Cashman got rid of him for a schlock in Aaron Boone.
The only thought is that Cashman was jealous of Girardi getting so much of the
Relief Pitchers: credit, and legitimately so, for whatever success Girardi was having.
  □ RHP David Bednar, 31, '25 Trade deadline from Pirates, '25 6-5 2.30 27saves
  □ RHP Camilo Doval, 28, '25 Trade deadline from SF, '25 4-3 3.58 16saves
  □ RHP Fernando Cruz, 35, '25 Trade with Reds, '25 3-4 3.56
  □ LHP Tim Hill, 35, '24 FA from White Sox, '25 4-4 3.09
  □ LHP Brent Headrick, 28, '25 FA from Twins, '25 0-0 3.13
  □ RHP Cade Winquest, 25, '26 Rule 5 draft from STL, '25 AA 5-7 3.99
Bednar was a great pickup from Pittsburgh at the trade deadline and
solves the closer problem. Doval and Cruz are solid setup men.
The Yankees need to find some bullpen depth but that is one thing
that they usually are able to do.

  □ OF Jasson Dominguez, 23, '19 IFA, '25 10 47 .257
Led by the awesome future HOFer Aaron Judge, the offense is quite good.
The Yankees scored 129 runs above the league average last year.
Not too shabby. Chisholm, Bellinger, Stanton and Grisham can all hit.
Then you have the youngsters such as Rice, Wells, Volpe and Dominguez
who are still improving. It's potentially a circular lineup
